Since our humble beginnings towards
various initiatives as key facilitator in socio economic development through
promotion of local resource base income generating activities in South district
of Sikkim. People of its targeted areas ratified a formal administrative
structure; one based on Kapinzal’s core values of activeness, non-hierarchy,
participatory democracy and transparency, and consequently elected a new coordination
team. In addition to discussing strategies for the growth of the organization in
the coming years, the peoples’ participation also gave us an opportunity to learn
about the work of different programs, and understand ways in which we can
improve our efforts towards socio economic empowerment. Over the past years,
the programs carried out have grown to now include healthcare, curriculum
improvement, gender equity, children at risk, national resource management and
community ownership, ecology and legal help for women. Through the year
we held several awareness, training events, economic empowerment of the poor
through mobilizing community people in addition to promote small enterprises,
women groups for community development issues, etc. These events provide great
opportunities for our team, target group as well as our supporter to understand
more about the issues surrounding what efforts can be taken towards empowerment
through initiatives. Now it
has seen significant announcements being made for the developmental sector. Now
the challenges for the
foundation would
be to translate these into significant gains for the sector. At the same time
we must not forget the organizations in the under-served area. We will have to
reduce the disparity among people. The task is huge and would require sustained
efforts from all the professionals of the organization. But
I am sure that as they have done it before, they would be able to live up to
their reputation this time also. I wish them all the luck. For the progress,
which the association has been able to make in the last year, I would like to
go on record to thank each of the executive members
and the staffs for guiding the Association.
We
again thank every one of our well wisher, supporters, donors and the departments,
organizations that we came in contact with – at our different events, the dedicated
volunteers and their families who make us who we are today. We hope that such
relationship and the efforts takes us one step closer to our mission and
towards better understanding of the issues surrounding our mission and objectives
that will enable us to direct our energies better towards reaching our goals.

As it has been in the past, the current journey also has been full
of significant initiatives and approaches in the effort towards capacity
building of workers and enhancing collaborations in the development sector. At present Kapinzal Social Foundation has
made commendable efforts in promotion of rural livelihoods in Sikkim. The efforts made by the organization through
training, studies and consultative dialogues have opened up greater
opportunities of livelihood. It’s contribution to develop the human resource
has been a replicable innovation in the sector. Network development initiatives
recognize the notable progress achieved. It achieved a broad
distinguished and effective presence at the core of the society, a fact that
was underlined by the interest of several developmental sources to seek its
partnership. The qualitative and quantitative achievements as well as
ambitions are realized owing to the efforts. These traits allowed the Network
to gain support for the society targeted, and also bolstered the capacities to
achieve further.

I would like to mention a special word of thanks to support provided by
various institutes, our resource persons and other experts who have been
incredible in providing their support to our programs. I appreciate their
gesture and commitment towards the good cause. Kapinzal Social Foundation has attained respectability as a support
organization in the state and I would like to thank all partner NGOs for having
good faith in its capacities and look forward to their continued support in the
future as well. With the new perspective plan in hand, the foundation has a long way to go in furthering its
mandate of promoting collaboration between government and NGOs and building
capacities of NGOs and cooperative movement for improving the sector’s vision,
practice and credibility. We started new Mission for awaiting
the mass people who do not have access to and control over their resources, say
adopting Income Generating Activities to attract self employment among rural
educated poorer youth/women community. I also take this opportunity to congratulate the staffs of the organization who have untiringly worked towards building
the organization as a dynamic and futuristic organization. We, the workers team of the Foundation see this as a privilege to work for upliftment socioeconomic structure of the rural poor and the
disadvantaged and will work hard for fulfillment of our cherished objectives
with zeal and dedication. The seed sown appears to have started giving flowers
and we are waiting to see the unlimited fruits the true of development bears.
We have patience to endure and courage to work with the seemingly impossible
task of mitigating sufferings of the disadvantaged, weaker sections and the
poor.
